Health problems related to underweight

A body mass index (BMI) of less that 18.5 is considered being underweight.

 

  1. Lack of energy with a feeling of being tired and drained  
  2. Poor general health and  lowered immunity  with increased susceptibility to infections like tuberculosis 
  3.  Nutritional deficiencies which may cause anaemia and  osteoporosis
  4. Infertility problems in women, if severe and increased  complications during pregnancy 
  5. Growth retardation in developing  children
